It’s been a few days into the new year and I’m really looking forward to the new and wonderful things it will bring. This sunset was like that. One of the wonderful things I get to share in the new year. I hope your new year will be just as spectacular!

When is a leaf like a sunset?

Every fall the leaves turn from green to warm hues as they make their way toward the ground. In this process, they become like a wildly random colored sunset caught in broad daylight. Just the right excuse for me to capture a few images and apply my own touches. Look for the image with the \\ marks for a very colorful variation.

After a fun visit with my sister and her family in Houston I decided to take a very quick excursion to Downtown Houston just to see it. Since I’m not a local and didn’t have much time to explore, I took advantage of what presented itself.

The buildings are impressive and colorful. Unfortunately, I was on a schedule and had to hit the road toward Dallas. It was a relatively uneventful drive. At the end I was rewarded with a pretty sunset while I filled my car’s tank. Happy Halloween everyone.

I had to make an effort to get out and see a little of the waterfront while I was here in Houston area. The closest place to do that was Kemah and the Boardwalk. When I’m driving and not really determined to stop at a specific place, I’ll wander a bit. Today was no different. I passed right by Kemah and meandered into a little town called San Leon. My sister was with me and we zig-zaged our way to the water and watched the shore birds and the water for a little while and I captured a few nice shots of fishing boats and the birds.

Then we heard an emergency siren. As it turned out we were just in time to see a parade! This was no parade like I’ve ever seen. Yes, it had a Halloween theme. But, every “float” was either a golf cart or four wheeler and nearly every one was decorated for the occasion.

We finally made it to the Kemah Boardwalk It reminded me of San Diego’s Seaport Village combined with Pacific Beach’s rides. It was a really nice day and we walked around the entire area and took in all the sights and sounds. No, we didn’t ride any rides. Just enjoyed the scenery. I hope you do too.
