Saturday was a VERY big day for the military’s naval aviation world. Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) is the birthplace of Naval Aviation and Saturday was the kickoff for a nation wide celebration of their 100 years of flight. NASNI opened their gates and put on a great show of static display aircraft from all eras. Had live bands playing into the evening. Hosted a car show on the tarmac. Opened three of their ships for tours including the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

The location of the open house at NASNI was the perfect place to watch the “Parade Of Flight” that was kicked off by the Blue Angels and wrapped up with a massive 35 plane fly over in formation. Not a typical “air show”. You really got to see a lot of different aircraft though. I’m really glad I put in the effort and time to see this from this location. From the vantage point I selected I was even treated to a fly-by of an osprey, or fishing eagle. I hope you enjoy the pictures and will drop me a note to let me know what you think. Thanks!

One of my most favorite places to enjoy breakfast is Antique Row Cafe in Normal Heights of San Diego. The staff is always very friendly and the service is really fast too. I’ve been going there for too many years to mention here. For many of those years now I’ve had the singular privilege to meet the staff and owners at their Holiday Party for a group picture of the servers and owners together. Since I’ve been patronizing the establishment so long they all feel like family. This year they allowed Rhonda and me to join them for dinner and to observe their gift exchange and bonus game. It was a great time and keeps me mindful of the connections we make throughout the year.

Sunday was a great day for attending a concert.  This one was small and intimate and the purpose was to benefit special needs children with the gift of harps for their own therapy.

My roll was to document and capture the day.  And the music was brilliant.

If you have an interest in supporting special needs children with the gift of music visit Angel Harps.
